Ramil Gachayev has a legal background and is an active researcher working at the intersection of international intellectual property law, international investment law, and AI governance. He holds a PhD in Law from Swansea University and, as part of his doctoral research, completed a visiting research programme at the University of Edinburgh, where he also taught International Intellectual Property Law.

He brings nearly 20 years of combined academic and professional legal experience across the public sector and a wide range of commercial and non-commercial organisations, with a focus on contracts, compliance, and legal risk management, including senior in-house leadership roles. His work is published in peer-reviewed journals, and he regularly engages with the research community through conference activity, including SLS, SLSA, and EPIP.

He is the founder of dejure.az and the founder of aijurium.com, a platform dedicated to AI law and responsible AI governance.
