Artificial intelligence strategy: trustworthy, ethical and inclusive

The Strategy sets a five-year, people-centred plan to develop and use AI in Scotland in ways that are trustworthy, ethical and inclusive. It outlines a Vision, enabling Principles, Practices, and an action roadmap delivered through the Scottish AI Alliance with ministerial accountability and annual ‘State of AI’ reports. It aligns with OECD AI Principles and UNICEF’s policy guidance on AI for children, integrates with Scotland’s Digital Strategy, and proposes concrete initiatives including a public sector AI Charter and a register of trusted algorithms. Its core ambition is stated plainly: ‘Scotland will become a leader in the development and use of trustworthy, ethical and inclusive AI.’
