Notified body - An independent conformity assessment body that evaluates whether high-risk AI systems comply with the requirements of the EU AI Act before they are placed on the market. Such bodies must be established under national law, act impartially, and operate with the necessary competence and integrity. The Regulation defines a notified body as ‘a conformity assessment body notified in accordance with this Regulation and other relevant Union harmonisation legislation’.
